OUR MISSION
Agency-quality strategy and creative for progressive candidates who can’t afford an agency.
Creative Cabinet (formerly Civic Power of Change) connects progressive candidates running for local and state office with a national network of volunteer marketing and creative professionals, who donate their time to deliver agency-quality work pro bono. Founded in 2017 and fully volunteer-run, the organization has supported over 300 candidates in 48 states (incl. DC).
OUR STORY
It all started when Michael Walsh and Jennie Palluzzi, two ad agency professionals on the west and east coasts, noticed something while volunteering with Run for Something: candidates for local office were running real campaigns, but without the message or the design to get them taken seriously. School board, city council, county races — the people closest to voters — were the least likely to have a decent logo, a working website, or materials that looked like anyone believed in them. Creative Cabinet formed to fix that, connecting Run for Something’s grassroots candidates with brilliant ad agency writers, designers, and strategists, volunteering their time and skill for free. In 2020, Creative Cabinet merged with Civic Power of Media, Jennie’s group, which was solving the same problem on the PR and media side, and together they coined a new name, “Civic Power of Change”. Nearly a decade later, the 2026 rebrand is a homecoming to that original name, Creative Cabinet. It recaptures how the org’s volunteers have always seen themselves: a cabinet of creative people who show up for local candidates who can’t afford a coterie of consultants.

Candidate applications and matching
Apply at creativecabinet.org/candidate-sign-up/.
Are applications open?
Applications are open on a rolling basis and will close periodically when capacity is reached.
What happens after I apply?
After you apply, one of our project managers will reach out to get your needs matched to volunteers.
Is a volunteer match guaranteed?
A match is subject to volunteer availability, but we make every effort to find what you need, even if we don't have it on our roster.
What if my campaign has an urgent deadline?
Our work is most effective when we're brought into the campaign early and holistically, but candidates with timely needs should submit an application and email hello@creativecabinet.org with details. We can't guarantee support less than 30 days from an election, but we'll do our best.
